Coco on gay marriage
I agree in separation of church and state. I do however not agree that we need to take morals out of the government. Yes morals are a part of religions but they are also just part of human beings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morality. "Morality means a code of conduct held to be authoritative in matters of right and wrong. Morals are created by and define society, philosophy, religion, or individual conscience." This definition of morality shows that morals are part of religion but also part of individual conscience. This individual conscience is and forever part of government because we have individuals who are running it. If we were to try to take morals out of government than there would be no law. Law's are based on what’s "right" and what’s "wrong". Stealing is "wrong" and it's against the law. However I can use the argument that stealing is "right" for me. Does this mean that we need to abolish all laws because people have different views on what is moral? A country without law as we can see from history and viewing other countries has never and will never work as long as people are not perfect. I have a belief that we will never reach perfection on this earth. We vote as citizens of The United States of America to determine what laws we want and who we want in office to instigate laws. We all have our own stance on morality and values, and we use what our beliefs are in order to choose what we want for this country. Morality will never be separated from state and it shouldn’t be. Hitler used the holocaust to enforce his idea of what was “right” and what was “wrong.” In his mind he probably truly thought that he was doing the “right” thing and all of his soldiers most likely believed they were doing “right”. I know what he did was “wrong” and his morals and mine are very different. As a citizen I have the absolute right to voice my opinion and say that killing people because of lineage, religion, race, and beliefs is wrong. I live in a country where I have the freedom of speech to tell the opinions of my mind and if that means telling someone they are wrong on a moral position than so be it. I will forever protect myself and my family. Legalizing gay marriage open’s the doors to legalizing unions for all different sexual preferences than we are in a world of trouble. Legalizing bestiality, necrophilia’s, pedophilia, and all other sexual preferences put’s the human race at risk. Legalizing same-sex marriage means it will be taught in schools as morally “right”. If we teach all sexual preferences as being “right” that will lead to more people choosing those actions. Darwin shook religion when he proposed evolution and survival of the fittest. Survival of the fittest means that we will only survive if we reproduce and we can only reproduce between a man and a woman. Well actually we can only reproduce naturally between two separate genders. The unnatural reproduction is for a different debate altogether. I love everyone. I have friends who are gay and I love them. My love is not discriminatory but that doesn’t mean I accept all acts by those I love. I might love my boyfriend but that doesn’t mean I’d accept him cheating. I love you but wouldn’t accept the act of you hurting me. I love gays but don’t accept the act of gay marriage.
